Debussy Birthday Party with Fete Concerts

Founded in 2014 by two coloraturas who decided to combine their passion for food, wine, and music, The Fete Concert Series aims to put the "art" back into "party" while educating and entertaining through discussion and musical performance. On August 22nd we celebrated Claude Debussy's 152nd birthday with a combination of songs, piano preludes, and his "Syrinx" for solo flute. Concert dates are determined by important anniversaries in the celebrated artist's life.

Phonochromaticism: A Sonic Journey Through the Visible Light Spectrum

This concert is the colorful result of a collaboration between Phonochrome and the Guerrilla Composer’s Guild. Featuring new works from six different composers, the program revolves around George Crumb’s underwater masterpiece for flute, cello, and piano - Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale). As a reflection on Vox Balanae, which is to be performed under blue lighting, the commissioning project asked each composer to respond musically to a Roy G Biv color. This prompt yielded fascinating results, ranging from an amorphous indigo work for piano fourhands to an explosive infrared quartet for flute, viola, cello, and piano.
