Are you an adult interested in learning an instrument for the first time?
Or did you used to play an instrument and want to bring music back into your life?
If so, you're in the right place! I know learning (or re-learning!) an instrument as an adult can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be drudgery. In fact, I've witnessed firsthand how rewarding it is to develop new skills, set creative goals, and learn to play songs you love.
Yes, even if you don't have a lot of time and yes, even if you don't think of yourself as "creative."
I'll guide you through the process of being a beginner again with compassion, flexibility, and strategy. And most importantly, you'll have fun!

"I highly recommend Liz as a flute instructor for her kind and effective approach to teaching. Her patient guidance has made learning the flute, music theory, and form and enjoyable experience for a novice like me."
What are lessons like?
Online or in-person
Live in Berlin? I teach in-person in Berlin Mitte and Friedrichshain.
Not in Berlin? No problem! I teach online and can send you everything you need to know about how to set up for a virtual lesson.
Aside from a short list of starting materials (flute, music stand, tuner/metronome, notebook), I use teaching materials that work within your budget! I use many materials that I've written or collected from public domain so you don't have to be afraid of extra costs.
Strategic and Effective
A fun fact about me is that I wrote a book on practice technique during the 2020 Covid lockdowns! I love finding practice methods that are easy and effective (and then teaching them to you!) so you know exactly how to learn music and make noticeable improvement even if you don't have a lot of time.
I get it! Sometimes you have time and motivation, and sometimes you don't. The same is true for professional musicians. I'll help you reach your goals with a variety of approaches so you can still make progress and enjoy learning music, no matter what life puts in the way.
I'm a certified teacher of Alexander Technique, which is a method for releasing habitual tension and developing mind-body awareness. You'll learn to play flute with physical ease and healthy coordination.
We play music.
My goal as a performer and as a teacher is for music-making to be as fun as possible. I'll teach you expert practice techniques that include creative problem solving, listening, duets, moving and embodying music...all while learning music you're excited to play.
Let's Get Started!
I'd love to support your musical journey!
